The following statement was approved by Commission staff as agenda item #6 in the Commission’s meeting on August 14, 2023:
STATEMENT FROM PTOC STAFF AND DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE STAFF
Over the past several days, both Commission staff and the Department’s Local Jurisdictions unit have received numerous inquiries from the counties and other interested parties regarding how to implement the new Type 3 school district tax. We want to assure you that we recognize the very short time frame in which your inquiries must be resolved. We have been working diligently on responding to your questions. Now that the Commission has taken action, we are promulgating written guidance that we intend to issue as quickly as possible. This guidance will be in question-and-answer format. We will include within this guidance all questions posed in the chat functions of both last Friday’s and yesterday’s Commission meetings.
